‘Chaos’ as VA Implements Executive Order Limiting Union Official Time
Our organization has already noticed a significant increase in the number of calls from employees across all federal agencies seeking assistance. Many are claiming union representatives are largely unresponsive to their requests for help. While these claims were not uncommon before, they are increasingly commonplace now. Official time and dues checkoff are the backbone of any federal labor union, which relies on uncompensated volunteers. Remove either, and most local unions will either collapse or become corrupt fairly quickly.
Union says provisions of the recent order have been enacted inconsistently, with little communication.
